Dental View

The view from the dental chair in my dentist's office. I do not mind waiting to get my teeth cleaned and checked.

Day Lilies

The blooms live for only a day and many parts of the plant are edible.

Pretty Blue Flower

I cannot remember the name of this flower but when I do I will come back here and post it.

Peonies After Blooming

I discovered these in a friend's garden. I had not realized that there would be such a pretty dried "bloom" after the opulent fragrant blooms had withered. A lovely surprise.

Fading Beauty

I love the scent of peonies so I had to clip and bring some into the house. Even as they fade, they are beautiful.

Columbine

Columbine has such a pretty structure. This clump of white reminds me of a bridal bouquet.

Winter Aconite

Any of several low Eurasian perennial herbs (genus Eranthis, especially E. hyemalis) of the buttercup family Buttercup Family (Ranunculaceae) with solitary yellow or white flowers which often bloom through the snow.

I love this flower. Although it spreads and is working it's way into my lawn, the leaves die back after the bloom has gone, just about the time the grass needs its first mowing. I won't see it again until next year.

Flower Arranging

One of my favorite show tasks is picking and arranging the flowers used in the booth.

Witchhazel, Flowers in Winter

I like to garden and when I discovered that there were plants that bloomed in the winter, I had to get one. In the process of finding the cultivar I wanted, I ended up with three. Ironically, the one I wanted is the less attractive of the three because it does not shed its leaves until spring, hiding and detracting from the beauty of the spidery blossoms.

What's for Dinner?

For over a year, driving to and from work, I have been passing this stand, located on an old gas station lot turned auto repair shop (behind the stand). Sometime last year, I broke down at the intersection where it is located and while waiting for a tow truck to haul me and my car to my mechanic's shop, the owner of the auto repair shop gave me a menu. He said the fellows who ran the stand were his friends.

Even though I decided to buy my dinner there sometime, I continued to drive right by on my way home, usually lost in thought, but tonight, the brighter than normal lights snapped me out of my reverie. The sign said "Barbecue Ribs," so ribs it was, along with some cooked cabbage, pinto beans and cornbread, enough for two meals, dinner and lunch tomorrow.

A twofer day. I have always loved Christmas cacti and two Thanksgivings ago I was given one. These are it's first blooms, two to be exact. The other is drooping out to the left. You'll have to imagine it.
